What is Lobo Village?

     

     Lobo Village first opening in the fall of 2011 is a luxurious living quarters for both UNM and CNM students. You can find Lobo Village between Interstate 25 and The Pit (UNM basketball stadium). It is a place for students to have a chance to live a close distance to their school. This place is known to house only students above the freshman level, but actually it is meant for any college level student. In order to make sure that you get to class on time, Lobo Village has 2-3 courtesy buses that run from 6:30am-10:00pm.

 

What Can They Offer Me?

     Lobo Village goal is to assure students that when they are not at school, they have all the resources to make sure you’re successful in your studies. When you’re not studying, Lobo Village wants to make sure you’re enjoying your college experience. They do so by providing a high class game room and movie theatre. As you pursue your degree you come across a lot of stress. Lobo Village offers a large hot tub, pool, and poolside lounging area. Finally, we have your physical health. Included with your stay, Lobo Village offers a Cardio & Weight room larger than majority apartments and all UNM housing.

Is Lobo Village the Way To Go?

               Hello, my name is Andrew Lucero and I am a second semester Freshman at The University of New Mexico. I am currently studying Business and Education. During the First Semester I lived in Casas Del Rio on-campus. As of the start of the Spring 2015 semester I have been living here at the Lobo Village. I plan on living at the UNM Cottages in the Fall 2015 semester. There are many things that I love about Lobo Village and very few things that I dislike.

          During the beginning of my college career I was living in Casas Del Rio. I was super excited and enjoyed the living there at first. The things that were nice about it was the free printing and being on-campus already. This made going to class a lot more convenient. I enjoyed the room for the most part. The only thing that was inconvenient was having to share a bathroom with roommates. Another thing I disliked was having to purchase the meal plan. This came out to be $2100. After that and the $575 monthly rate, I began to look for cheaper options to live at, and this is where I found Lobo Village.

         Lobo Village was a huge prospect of where I wanted to move to during the Spring 2015. As I began to move, I found out that Casas Del Rio was owned by the same people as Lobo Village. By this being true I would have no extra fees when moving, because the lease would just transfer. Another thing that made Lobo a good choice was the monthly rate being $499 a month. This is almost $100 cheaper than what I currently payed. Finally the last aspect that really confirmed my decision was not having to pay the meal plan. This was important to me, because I saved my mom $2100.

          Living at Lobo Village has bot been anything shy of excellent. First of all, my random roommates have became great friends to me. This shows that the environment is so friendly. Next, thing that was an improvement was having semi-private kitchen and living area. I utilize this part a ridiculous amount. I cook my own food now, which I love, and I have a place to lounge around with company. Next there are the beds. The beds are full beds, which is an improvement from the twin beds at Casas Del Rio. Finally, there are the personal bathroom. Each room within the apartment has it's own bathroom. This allows me to not have to weight for anyone, or wake them up early in the morning.

          The thing I would encourage the most, is to utilize the other amenities Lobo Village has to offer. The gym here is completely free and is very large. It is open 24 hours and has anything you need to stay fit. Another amenity I use is the hot tub. It's nice after a stressful week to go and sit in the hot tub. Finally, the game room. The game room includes ping pong, two pool tables, air hockey, and so much more.

          If I were to recommend anyone to UNM housing it would be Lobo Village. This is the place you want to have your college experience. Lobo Village has everything you'll need for school and for pure enjoyment. Not only that, but it is the cheapest living you'll find. The only reason I am choosing to live at the UNM Cottages next semester is due to Lobo Village not being co-ed. I have a relative (female) that is a future Lobo and the Cottages is the only UNM housing that is co-ed.
